Court Security and Transportation

The Sheriff’s Office Court Security and Transportation Unit is station out of the Albany County Judicial Center with satellite stations in Albany County Family Court, Albany City Police Court and the Albany County Courthouse.  

The Transportation Unit is charged with the duties of transporting inmates and juveniles committed to the custody of the Albany County Sheriff to and from court appearances from various detention centers including the Albany County Correctional Facility.  In 2oo8 alone, this unit transported over 10,000 inmates to court appearances through out the State.

The Court Security Unit, is charged with the duties of maintaining the safety and security of courts in the Albany County Judicial Center, Albany County Family Court and Albany County Courthouse.  In addition to the many other duties at these locations, this unit handled the security of 46 criminal trials and 59 civil trials in 2008.
